Kevin and Melissa Hansen have been married for 14 years and have five children. However, their journey and calling to start Reach Orphans Worldwide began long ago. Upon initial dating, they mutually felt God calling them together not only for each other, but also for His greater purpose and plan. Little did they know that every step along the way was preparing them for what was ahead.

In their careers as a Registered Nurse and Firefighter Paramedic, Melissa and Kevin were often first to treat others during heartbreaking circumstances. It was during these times that God continued to challenge their hearts even more so in the area of giving. The lingering question of, “Why were we blessed with loving families growing up?” did not leave them. In 2012, multiple doors opened and before long they found themselves visiting orphanages in El Salvador, hosting children from Ukraine during the summers, and most importantly learning about a desperate need; children with no families. God’s calling dramatically changed their life, took them across the world into third world countries, where they came face to face with vulnerable suffering children in need of food, shelter and a family. Showing God’s love through meeting basic needs, began a ministry that God is greatly using to transform the lives of children around the world for eternity.

Unable to forget the millions of children during their trips, Kevin and Melissa decided to create an international 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that would reach those children who may never be adopted or reached otherwise. It is their vision that every child knows the love of Jesus and the plan He has for their life. The mission of Reach Orphans Worldwide is clearly stated in the name . . . Reach Orphans Worldwide.

Reaching children around the world to give every child a hope and a future.

We knew that we needed an implementation strategy.

In order to start an entire program in any country, state or city, there must be a specific plan that is broken down into phases, each relying on the other to create one successful program. That is why Reach Orphans Worldwide has implemented a four-phase program carefully designed to position us the workers, in a way that will facilitate long-lasting change.

Research and Communication allows us to investigate the needs of specific countries and regions while networking with local individuals, businesses and government officials.
Mercy Ministries allows us to consistently provide basic life essentials in the form of "First Aid," resulting in international and domestic working relationships.
Training and Outreach Programs allows us to implement proper education, Bible camps, vocational training and transitional housing to ensure successful independence once "aging out" of system occurs.
Goal Achievement allows us to combine all four phases for implementation in one country. Once a child enters an institution, we are there carefully walking them through each phase, providing a bright future.
