This Thing Called Life
With so many responsibilities, checklists, pressures and deadlines, this thing called “life” often gets us off track from what God has in store for us. It seems at times keeping our heads above the water is almost impossible. Yet, in the midst of our stress and struggle we ask ourselves, “What is the real purpose of this life?” and “What gives meaning to our lives?”
At ROW, we strongly believe the answer is two-folded and lies within to actions: Giving and Sharing. Through giving prayerfully, emotionally, socially or financially to the poor, broken and hurting we get a glimpse into what Jesus was meaning when He said, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for Me.’ (Matthew 25:40 NIV). Additionally, through sharing the message of Salvation through Jesus Christ, we become His vessels used to bring hope and healing to the lost and the hurting. By combining Giving and Sharing, we begin to understand and see that THIS is the purpose of life and THIS is what gives meaning to our lives. Everything else will naturally fall under this concept if we place it in the correct order. Easy? No, not at all. However, the result is changed lives, not only others, but our life as well. Will the responsibilities, checklists, pressures, or deadlines ever go away? Never. However, our load becomes much more bearable as we shift our focus from ourselves to others, realizing that this thing called “life” is not about our humanly crafted goals, but about God’s amazing plan for our lives as we become His hands and feet to a broken world.
We would like to recognize two amazing organizations that understand this concept and have put it into action. Love and Hope Children’s Home in El Salvador and Nasledie Heritage Foundation in Ukraine, both have been pouring into children’s lives for years. We have met the leaders, seen them in action and they truly exemplify what it means to Give and Share. Please visit their websites, support them and pray for them. You will be blessed.
